In our youth and young lives it is all about getting ahead, accumulating and growing as people. But at some stage we become finally attuned to the need to let go of things that are no longer helpful or needful for us.
There are many things that people want to let go of when they become conscious and awareness of the burdens and habits that have buried themselves within us. This can include -
1. Painful and terrifying memories
2. Habits and addictions
3. Anger and jealousy
4. Unhelpful obsessions
5. Egotistical views and thoughts
6. Sorrows, regrets and disappointments
All of these serve no purpose on but to hinder us living the good life. They say that holding onto anger is like holding on to a hot rock; we only burn ourselves.
Often we are impaired and blinded by our egos who make terrible masters but great servants. Our narratives and views are regularly clouded by the little self (ego) who cries out in an infantile way and seeks to point us to our vices and selfish desires. This stunts the course of self actualisation, self determination and self awareness. In other words; prevents us living the best life.
This is a great collaboration between the Zen Master Alan Watts & Akira the Don.
